If you’ve been playing for a while and you already have quite a bit of experience at the instrument, we’ll help you to improve your playing, play more expressively, and to better understand the music that you love. We can explore exercises to help you take your piano technique to the next level.
What will my child learn in piano lessons?
If your child is a beginner, their teacher will first get to know them, and get a sense of their unique interests. If your child has never played the piano before, we’ll start with exploring the sound that the instrument makes, the different types of sound that the piano can create, as well as the fundamentals of a good technique. We aim to get even very young children playing a simple piece in the first or perhaps second lesson. Eventually your child will learn the note names, the clefs and what they do, sharps, flats, and the fundamentals of music theory. This will help him or her understand the music that they will play at the piano. We’ll cover musicality, expression, expressive playing, and so much more! What will I learn in adult piano lessons?
If you’re taking lessons with Frederick Piano Academy as an adult, you’ll love working with our teachers!
They will guide you in your exploration of music and assist you in achieving your goals at the piano. If you’re a beginner and have never played before, you’ll learn the fundamentals of good technique, which includes how to sit at the piano in such a way that facilitates comfortable playing. You’ll learn about musicality, music theory, expressive playing. You’ll explore piano music from various time periods and styles, from classical to jazz. If you’re interested in playing pop songs, we can work on that too, or make it the primary focus of your lessons.
You’ll learn about music theory, about how chords are formed and how they function, and so much more.
